Down High School U13s 41 Larne Under 13s 0
A wet and windy Downpatrick welcomed the Larne Grammar boys, and despite the weather improving during the game, the Larne team went home 'drenched' 41-0 by a strong Down High team.
Two early tries by Paddy Browne and Marcus Graham gave Down High an early control on the game and allowed Down High to relax and play some great flowing rugby.
The Down High pack controlled most of the forwards play throughout the game with some great scrummaging and mauling.
The strong winds made coversions tricky for Paddy, but two further tries by Matthew Dougherty and Clayton Milligan gave Down High a strong half-time lead.
Despite injuries to Rory Horder and Matthew Porter plus a few substitutions, the second half started where the first half finished off, with further tries being scored by Matthew, Clayton, William Annett and Jonny McCoubrey, resulting in an impressive 41-0 win by Down High.
The highlight of the match was the 'so near but oh so far' try by Terry Hutley. The ball came out of the scrum and Terry was like Speedy Gonzalez picking up the loose ball and getting over the line, only for the referee to call play back. Maybe next time Terry!
Man of the Match: Clayton Milligan
