The first XV travelled to Banbridge RFC on Wednesday night for a match under floodlights against the club's U19 side. In the opening encounters the ferociously physical home team threw everything at the men in green and confirmed suspicions that this would be a tough encounter.
The Down defence was thoroughly tested throughout the night and for the most part held firm with the exception of one Banbridge try in the second half. In addition to a pleasing defensive performance the Down lads also played some impressive attacking rugby that saw tries from Joseph Bingham (2), Darren Cheung and James Martin. Patrick Wright also had a good night with the boot scoring 4 conversions and a penalty.
