Game day was upon us. This was what we were all looking forward to. Before we left for the games there was probably the shortest ever possession of the time keeping clock. No sooner had Greg Hutley received the clock that he was handing it over to Dan Browne. The location for the matches was Treasure Island and the Ray Sheeran Field which was the home of San Francisco Golden Gate Rugby Club. Our opposition was NorCal Pelicans and two victories were recorded. Reports and pictures of these matches appear below. The whole purpose of tour was evident afterwards as both sets of players mingled and exchanged some rugby regalia. We were treated to a spine tingling version of the Haka by one of the NorCal players and the Down boys duly responded with a fine rendition of Ireland’s Call.
A happy bus of players and coaches returned to Berkeley and thoughts turned to what is always a highlight of any tour- the court session. An enjoyable evening ensued and the boys really have embraced all aspects of the tour so far. Tomorrow is American Independence Day and a relaxing day is planned.
