Bangor Medallion 0 - 17 Down High Medallion
On a wet rainy day, Down High medallion boys travelled to take on Bangor Grammar. It was always going to be a tough match but what happened through the match came as a great eye opener to the whole team.
After kick off, Harry Hitchens made an amazing tackle, letting Zac Ward charge through the Bangor defence and score the first try in the very first play.
While the Bangor boys were doing most of the defending no more points were put on the board before half time.
The team received a stern talking to from the coaches at half time. When Bangor kicked off Rory Horder received the ball and took it up. After many carries from the forwards, Marcus Graham managed to get the second try for the team, which was not converted.
Throughout the match, the forwards scrums line-outs and mauls were very strong. Indeed it was after the pack won a scrum against the head that Zac Ward scored his second try which was converted by Paddy Browne.
For the remainder of the game the Down side had to do a lot of defending as well launching a few attacks of their own through backs like Browne, Graham and McCoubrey. However no more points were scored by either side before the final whistle.
While the team won the fixture everyone came away with something they could do to improve in the next match but at the end of the day, a win is still a win.
